"To, Ascension St John, Wendy Williams, and the Miss Weary Foundation,I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for selecting me as a recipient of the Miss WearyFoundation - Health Careers Pipeline Scholarship, supported by funding from Ascension St John. This scholarship has provided me with an invaluable opportunity to pursue my dream ofbecoming a nurse.I chose the Practical Nursing program at Health and Safety Education Training Center because ofits comprehensive curriculum and supportive learning environment. This summer, I completedthree required prerequisite courses and was truly impressed by the instructors' depth ofknowledge and their commitment to helping students succeed. The small cohort size has allowedfor personalized guidance and mentorship, which is essential in this challenging field.Having African American nurses as mentors has been particularly meaningful to me. Their deep understanding of cultural nuances and health disparities within African American communities will be instrumental in providing culturally sensitive care. Additionally, seeing African American nurses in leadership positions inspires me and other students of color, demonstrating that a careerin nursing is accessible and rewarding. By increasing the number of African American nurses,we can contribute to addressing health disparities and improving outcomes for underservedcommunities.I am eager to contribute to the healthcare field and make a positive impact on the lives of others.Thank you again for your generous support and for investing in my future."

“I chose Health and Safety Education Training Center as the school to get my practical nursing certification because it provides individualized teaching for each student and the instructors care about the students and their progress. I have always wanted to be in the medical field because I have a great passion for caring and helping heal people. My mother was an amazing nurse, and my role model. I look greatly up to her, and it would be an honor to continue the legacy. My daughter is also a nurse, and I see how hard she works and how much love she shows her patients. I believe the Health and Safety Education Training Center will assist me in progressing in my nursing career; the new sims lab is one I look forward to experiencing because I will have hands-on training which will prepare me for the workforce. It is also very important that we have African American nurses as mentors, who we as students, relate to; they can provide guidance and support from a shared cultural perspective, helping to address specific challenges and concerns. I am thankful for the consideration and opportunity to apply for the Miss Weary Foundation - Health Careers Pipeline Scholarship. This scholarship will, in many ways assist me in achieving my goals of becoming a great nurse and furthering my education.”

“Dear Admissions Committee, I am excited to apply to your program. Working as a Certified Nurse Tech has taught me a lot about taking care of patients and working with others. I’ve learned how to help people and be part of a team, and this experience has made me even more passionate about helping others in healthcare. I am really looking forward to learning more in your new SIMS lab. I know practicing real skills in this lab will help me become more confident and better at making decisions. I also like that your program has small classes as this will give me more personal attention from teachers, which I believe will help me learn faster and better. It is very important for me to have African American nurses as mentors. I know their advice and support will help me as I work through the program, especially since they understand some of the challenges I might face as a minority in healthcare. I am excited to grow as a healthcare professional in your program, learning new skills, working with great mentors, and becoming part of a diverse team. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to hearing from you.”
